Montum Octum is the only son of two Sharlayan phytologists. From an early age, he was to succeed his parents in carrying on their research in botany as his parents wished him to. Despite being fairly talented in the subject, Montum had no real interest. As a kid, his eyes were drawn more to fantasy books about adventurers going on journeys and as he grew older, the gleaners who he would see frequently at the harbor or in Labyrinthos. His lack of interest grew into frustration as he reached adulthood because Montum felt like he was living his parent's dream and not his own. Most of his peers were also heavily invested in academia and the only person he could truly show his feelings to was his childhood friend, Gwendelle. Montum’s breaking point was when he was to take the acceptance test to get into the Studium at 19. He passed with flying colors much to his dismay. Knowing that he had to take matters into his own hands, and to escape his parents' eternal gaze, he made the very hasty decision of taking an indefinite journey to Eorzea to "find what he really wants to do in life". Only telling Gwendelle, he left Sharlayan the night before he was to attend classes at the Studium, leaving a note on his parent's doorstep telling them that he was leaving and to not look for him. Arriving in Ul’dah, upon joining the adventurer’s guild, he ‘changed’ his name to Mont, as he felt that a slight name change would be a good fresh start.Since Mont had left Sharlayan, he's traveled all across the Ethyris as an adventurer. It was extremely difficult for him at first as he had very little street smarts, had no real combat experience, and wasn't used to traveling over long distances. During that time, he has learned basic conjury, red magic, and swordplay as his fighting style has evolved. He's also become a decent weaver and leatherworker so he can easily repair and modify clothing for various circumstances, mainly to adjust clothing to fit him better. After obtaining a mysterious ring and power in Mor Dhona, Mont has been pursued by bounty hunters on occasion sent by a certain member of the Forum under the reasoning of "stealing assets from the Sons of Saint Coinach". Mont now travels with a very talented but cocky swordsman named Gojifilo who possesses similar powers also granted by Allagan technology, and the A.I. that is embedded into Mont's ring, Lucenth. Mont wishes to continue traveling the Ethyris, and to gain more experiences and memories while doing so.
Unique Physical Features and Facts:
Despite being a Plainsfolk Lalafell, Mont has a slightly different eye design than other Plainsfolk.Mont is noticeably rounder than the average Lalafell. This is due to a slight genetic defect, not because of overeating (although he had an eating disorder while living in Sharlyan because of stress and anxiety). This slight defect also gives him a slightly increased mana pool, making him a little more proficient in magic. Due to intense and constant physical training however, he is quite athletic and agile, which is essential for his job and fighting style.Mont’s fighting style is in most cases to find weaknesses in his opponent’s attacks and form and exploit them. He will focus on using attacks that will be the most effective on them, such as keepaway magic for slower, heavily armored foes for example.Mont can also blink to short distances with a technique he calls ‘Atherical teleportation’. This takes a huge amount of aether to execute though, so he can only do it a few times before he feels drained.
The son of a retired Bloodsands gladiator in Ul'dah, Gojifilo Nojofilo had a talent for swordplay from a young age. Things took a turn for the worse when his father agreed to an exhibition match to end an old rivalry between another gladiator... and was murdered by a lance wielding wealthy merchant the night before the match. An act resulting from past grudges far before Goji's time. Swearing vengeance, Goji relentlessly trained to perfect his skills, surpassing his father's skill as a young adult. He took various jobs which would involve his swordplay, all for the reason of perfecting his technique and to achieve his revenge. When he felt he was ready, Goji stormed the merchant’s abode, where easily slew his guards, and finally him, avenging his father's murder. Some time later, he took a favor from an archeologist friend of his. The job was simple enough, guard him as he unearthed Allagan treasures from Azy La that have been dormant for thousands of years. The job did not go as planned, as chimeras descended upon them as they were finishing up with evacuating. The beasts were too fast and too quick, and Goji's unarmed friend was quickly killed while snapping Goji's sword in two. Goji would have suffered the same fate if he hadn't noticed a slightly unearthed sword on the ground, picking it up though caused him to attune to it and its power, the first being to do as such in thousands of years. Transforming, Goji quickly dispatched the beasts before falling to the ground unconscious. He would be later found by five other people who used similar Allagan technology as him, although he was the only one to undergo a slight physical change, his blonde hair now streaked with purple as well as marks on his face. Things would continue go to on until the six of them were tasked to deal with wild beasts roaming outside of Ghimlyt. The last thing Goji remembered for that mission was arriving on the battlefield.... He then woke up some time later with massive holes in his memory, and with a desire to find the leader of his group, Mont Octum. He succeeded in finding him in a sense, which only gave more questions. Other than various physical differences, Mont or anyone else didn't recognize him at all, and after a while, Goji came to a harrowing conclusion. He was in a completely different world altogether. Now traveling with his old new friend of sorts, Goji's biggest desire is to find out what happened that day and why he is even here in the first place. His questions will be eventually answered, although not in the way he thinks.
Unique Physical Features and Facts:
Goji was originally born with blond hair, but after attuning with Allagan technology made from auracite, his hair is now streaked with purple, as well as marks below his eyes of the same color that can’t be removed.Goji loves singing and dancing, although he doesn’t like to openly admit it because he has minor stage fright if he feels like his moves aren’t perfect.Goji is actually a pretty bad cook, so Mont usually prepares food when they are traveling together. He’s constantly trying to improve, and frequently has Mont try out his new recipes, much to Mont’s hesitation as it usually doesn't taste the best.Goji is an EXTREME lightweight when it comes to alcohol (basically wasted after one drink), and hides it by constantly saying that he hates drinking because it ‘dulls the senses in a fight’Goji usually doesn’t like to drag fights on as he feels like it is a waste of effort. So he attempts to end them as soon as possible, especially if he feels like his opponent is significantly less skilled than him.
